The Fresh Market

I absolutely love this grocery store. The staff are kind and friendly. Mr. Howard is always cheerful and kind to children. The price is a bit on the high side, but I recommend this place. Greek pizza is truly delicious, so please give it a try. You'll love this pizza too!

I am lucky enough to live in North Bethesda, MD. I have so many supermarket options near me (although two supermarkets recently dissapeared, Harris Teeter and Safeway, which was on the Rockville Turnpike). One of the best and most gourmet option is The Fresh Market, also on the Rockville Turnpike. This Fresh Market store stocks fresh vegetables, has its own butcher shop and bakery, a HUGE wall of specialty coffees sold by the pound "old school" style, a fully stock delicatessen, my favorite ice cream brands and flavors (not Haagen Daaz)... There is so much variety and yes, freshness. They stock my favorite Italian single-source unfiltered extra virgin olive oil brand (Frantoia) and Trois Cochons cornichons! One little secret is that the deli has freshly prepared and pressed to order panini! The service is incredibly courteous and you can find employees throughout the store (not the case with places like Aldi or Amazon Fresh). I highly recommend The Fresh Market

They are pricey but it's because they have all the best stuff. The nut/trail mix bar is just amazing. You can dispense into your own bag however much or little you want. Candy, too! And you can grind beans and nuts right there for fresh coffee and nut butter, respectively. I wouldn't shop for basics here but they have amazing specialty items. I've never seen dark chocolate covered hazelnuts or all the flavored decaf coffee anywhere else.

I’ve never actually been inside the store, but we‘ve ordered for curbside pickup several times and the food is always so good. We recently got their lemon basil cake and coconut cake slice as part of our purchase, and they were both delicious! Also, the almond pillow cookies are always a good choice - perfectly chewy yet slightly crispy on the edges and with bright almondy flavor! Edit: I visited in-store and it’s so nice inside! I’ve recently discovered that their Italian cookies are delicious, and I also took advantage of their free birthday cake slice as a member!

1-28-26. I was calling around to find a Tomahawk steak for My Fiancè birthday. I called this location & spoke with John in the Meat Department, He said Tomahawks are seasonal which I didn’t know. All I know is I wanted a tomahawk. I LOOOVEd that he was very genuine and extremely knowledgeable with all the questions I asked he had a descriptive answer and even added more things I didn’t know!. Which I can appreciate because lots of times you get ppl in these departments and they have 0 true knowledge it’s like How? But you work in….!. So I truly admire his pleasant customer service skills as well as being extremely knowledgeable within his department!, broke down the ins/out difference of the meat and the bone!. and the whys. So please if ever you’re in this wonderful store location, Pick Up Rotisserie Butter Thyme Chicken (you won’t regret it!!, I used to work in a FM) and ask for John!! He’s super polite and helpful!!..

This review is long overdue, as I've been going back and forth between Whole Foods, Giant, Safeway, Food Lion for years and recently Wegmans. Fresh Market wins! If you don't mind paying a little more for much better quality than Safeway/Giant you will appreciate the fresh produce and meats. Their meat counter is the best even better than Wegmans. In fact, on recent trips to both Wegmans and Whole Foods, NO PRIME STEAKS. Whaaaat? Yet Fresh Market prime steaks are out of this freaking world fantastic. Whole Foods meat counter guy, when asked why they don't have prime steaks... "Can you imagine the prices if we did have them?" My days of comparison shopping are over, Fresh Market wins. The service is good too, especially Howard and a few others.

While Fresh Market is a bit on the pricey side of grocery stores, the selection is good. They are well stocked and very convenient. The staff, especially Sebastian, the manager, are helpful and knowledgeable. They have several weekly specials that are worth a look, including $5 sushi day.
